5 Reasons to Send a Save the Date

1.14.2015

Brides-to-Be, no doubt your minds are swirling with Pinterest images, bridal countdown items, and the inevitable “what ifs” that come along with wedding planning. Sifting through the endless To Do Lists is a daunting task, and you may be wondering, “How many of these things do I really need?” And you’re right, there are several wedding planning items you can don’t necessarily need, however, a Save the Date card is one we recommend that you do not skip. In case you’re on the fence, let us help with this list of 5 reasons to send a Save the Date.

save the date

1 – A SAVE THE DATE DUALS AS A FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF YOUR ENGAGEMENT

Most close family & friends have probably heard the news of your engagement, but for those that are far away or those who aren’t connected through social media, a Save The Date may be the first time they have heard of your upcoming nuptials. This is not only the first piece of the pending invitation, but it acts as a formal announcement to all who are invited, that you would like to formally share with them this momentous event.

2 – YOU REALLY DO WANT THEM TO ATTEND

Hey, people are busy. Most working adults have vacation time and travel reservations well in advance. Don’t miss out on them missing your big day because you didn’t give them proper notice. Send out a Save the Date to ensure that they actually DO reserve that date (or the entire weekend) for your wedding.

3 – YOUR WEDDING IS A DESTINATION EVENT

It takes time to plan for a wedding that is out of town. Whether driving or flying out of town, your guests will need to make arrangements for accommodations and quite possibly request time off of work. Your respectful advance notice of the date, city and time frame will allow them to plan accordingly and without the stress of time constraints or expensive airline tickets.

4 – ANNOUNCE YOUR WEDDING WEBSITE

A Save the Date is the perfect place to provide your wedding website URL to guests well in advance. And don’t worry if it’s not complete just yet. The wealth of information you provide can be added bit by bit and be ever growing. Providing this totally invaluable resource to your guests on your save the date will ensure they have the information they need in order to plan their trip early. Everything from recommended hotels to your favorite restaurants and local hot spots will assist your guests in successfully planning an enjoyable stay during the weekend of your wedding.

5 – SET THE DATE IN PRINT
Your Save the Date solidifies that you, in fact, have an official date, a venue, and a guest list! These are the three major top priorities in planning and getting a head start on these three triumphs is oh so important to moving onto all of the other (perhaps more fun) details. If you go so far as to select a Save The Date that is a precursor to your invitation suite, then you are already waaaay ahead of the game because that means you have made massive decisions about color and mood and you have officially laid the groundwork for the rest of the planning. It’s time to have fun!

India Inspired Letterpress Wedding Invitation

7.23.2009

We just finished printing this amazing India Inspired letterpress wedding invitation that was designed by Kristi and Ravi, both graphic designers.  When we saw this design we instantly fell in love with it and basically had to print it.

The invitation, reception and reply card were inspired by the bright colors and patterns of Indian textiles and are printed on ultra thick 600 gsm cotton rag paper. The belly band (not shown) and informal note is printed on 300 gsm cotton rag Copperplate.   The invitation is letterpress printed with two custom colors and the surrounding pattern is blind hit.  This is one of those invitations that when you receive it you just have to reply “yes” as fast as you can.  You don’t even need to read it or know what the event is, you just know you’re going – its that good!

Letterpress Invitation for a Farm Wedding

7.20.2009

We had the honor of printing this sweet farm wedding invitation for Vermont couple, Catherine and Jeff Hannoosh.  The invitation suite was designed by the couple and printed on eco-friendly 100% cotton rag paper.  The silhouettes of the barn and the animals are sunken deep into the soft cotton paper leaving a beautiful impression.

farm wedding

As you can see the wedding reception is taking place at The Skinner Barn in Vermont.  Having a farm wedding is becoming more and more popular and from what I hear, farms that host weddings are starting to have a hard time keeping up with demand!  This is something to keep to keep in mind when planning a wedding, as booking for popular venues goes quickly! Having a farm wedding can also help cut costs because you are allowed to bring in your own catering and music.

We love working with couples to bring their custom designs to life! If you’d rather leave the design to us, browse our letterpress invitation designs here and our design team will work with you to craft an invitation suite perfectly tailored to your personal style.
